Your story from the very beginning.

For all kinds of mothers. Raising all kinds of children. In all variations of families.

Birth photography is a rising trend in the US and Australia and is also starting to gain popularity in the UK. I’ve been very lucky to have had two wonderful birth experiences myself, one in hospital and one homebirth. Giving birth is one of the greatest experiences in life and can pass you by in a blur - I wish I would have had a photographer documenting my births, to have photos to look back on and cherish forever. This is how the idea of offering birth photography ‘was born’.

Documenting the beauty and power of birth, capturing your baby’s first moments in life.

I am a strong advocate of evidence-based information around pregnancy and birth and want to empower women to have their birth, their way.

Is it for you?

Imagine being able to relive your baby’s first moments in life – that first look, that first touch, that first hold. Those memories don’t have to fade. Let’s capture your beautiful birth story. If you like the idea of having a photographer document these extraordinary life changing moments for you, please get in touch. These photos can be a precious memory and show you how amazing you were. It’s also a beautiful gift to share with your future child.

I offer a no obligation informal meeting in person before confirming a booking. We can use this consultation to discuss all the questions you might have and create your bespoke birth photography plan together – I want your photos to be what you want them to be.

Q+A

How long is the shoot?

However long your active labour lasts, birth + one hour postpartum.

How may photos will we get?

All the best from the session. At least 75.

When to book?

The sooner in your pregnancy the better, to ensure I can guarantee to be exclusively available for you the weeks around your due date. Do still get in touch if you’ve only come across this later in your pregnancy and I will always try and make myself available to document this special life event for you.

Pricing?

£750. This includes a consultation and covers your active labour and one hour postpartum. I require a £350 non-refundable deposit once you decide to secure your booking. Find further details below.

Is it for home births only?

No. Although this type of photography is most usual for home births, I do also offer documenting your hospital or birth centre birth, even planned c-sections. However, if the birth is outside your home, my presence at your birth needs to be authorised by the relevant head of department of your place of birth, such as the head midwife, consultant or similar. Some places have restrictions in place to only allow the birth partner to accompany you, so this needs to be formally discussed and approved in advance.

Concerned about your modesty?

Birth photography is all about emotion. It’s not just about the crowning shot and actually some people choose to not have these kind of images at all. I can get creative with angles and different crops, capturing the beauty of your birth without getting too intimate.

Is it right for me?

We start with an informal meeting in person with no obligation to book. It’s for you to explore the idea and see if I am the right fit for you to invite me into your birth space. I want you to feel comfortable having me around. I will not intrude on your experience and remain as an observer in the background, documenting your moments without getting in the way or taking part in your story.
